REDEFINING WHAT A GOOD FIT MEANS

We define a good fitting putter as one that naturally wants to orient to square at the moment of impact.  A bad fitting putter is a putter that requires a lot of intervention to return to square. Most golfers make a lot of adaptations to make their off-the-shelf putters work for them and that is largely a product of how putters have been historically fit.  When your only option is a room full of putters with fixed characteristics, it becomes a lottery that depends on trying a bunch of different clubs and hopefully stumbling into the right putter.  ASTRAL PUTTERS™ designed a putter and experiential fitting process that gives you the power to lock in a perfect fit, every time, with just one club.

SIGNS YOU’RE FIGHTING A BAD FITTING PUTTER

You may think your current putter fits you well by conventional standards, but we promise it doesn’t fit you well by ASTRAL PUTTERS™ standards.  Here are a few clues that you’re making your putting game harder than it has to be by using an ill-fitting putter:

⛳️ You have a garage full of putters that never worked quite right.

⛳️ You have a “special trick” that helps you putt better which in reality is a compensation you’ve learned to make a bad fitting putter perform better.

⛳️ Your on-course performance doesn’t match up with your performance in the fitting studio due to you reverting to your natural stroke tendencies when you are no longer being coached on how to compensate for a bad fitting putter.

⛳️ You have a “common miss.”  The common miss is in fact what happens when you fail to make all the adjustments necessary to compensate for your putter’s natural tendencies along your stroke arc.

⛳️ You miss a putt, you don’t know why.  If you don’t know why, that’s a clear indication that you are disconnected from your putter and that you don’t know or where to hit the ball on-line.

If this sounds like you, find out just how much better your putting game can be with ASTRAL PUTTERS™!

The ASTRAL PUTTERS™ Fitting Process

Our putters and fitting process are built around the central belief that you will perform better and be more consistent using a putting stroke that comes naturally to you rather than a stroke that depends on a lot of artificial compensations.  Our fittings are a simple and systematic trial-and-error process that gives any golfer the tools to achieve a great fit.

STEP 1 - START WITH YOUR NORMAL:  We recommend golfers start with a configuration that closely resembles their existing putter. A key for replicating traditional putter configurations is below:

PUTTER STYLE ARC HOSEL SETTING POSITION

Face Balanced Minimal 3.0 - Blue B1 Assembly Directions: Painted side down, first available position setting forward of face

Plumber’s Neck Moderate 2.0 - Red A2 Assembly Directions: Painted side up, first available position setting forward of face

Flow Neck Heavy 2.0 - Red B5 Assembly Directions: Painted side down, last available position setting before 6 o’clock

STEP 2 - IDENTIFY YOUR MISS:  We recommend that you focus less on hitting your target and more on delivering a consistent and natural swing over a series of shots.  Misses are good because they help us identify your miss tendency.  Getting to a stroke that is free of adaptions is our goal, so put that ego aside and take some pride in just how consistent you can be with your misses.

STEP 3- TUNE OUT YOUR MISS:  Our final step is a simple process of trial and error that is informed by real world results.

1.    Experiment with different settings by rotating the Hosel one step forward and then one step backward from its original position.

2.    Eliminate any setting you don’t like and continue making rotation adjustments in the direction you preferred until you no longer like the look, feel, or performance of the club.

3.    Refine your fit:

a.     Reverse the tip end of the Hosel and try similar orientations with the opposite side of the hosel pointing down.  For example, if you liked the performance of your putter in positions A1 (0°) and A2 (36° forward) but did not care for position A3 (72° forward), you could flip the Hosel over and try positions B1 (18° forward) and B2 (54° forward).

b.    Consider setting up the putter using a different Hosel in the same position settings you liked best with the original Hosel. For example, if you liked position B1 in the 2.5 Hosel (White), you could try positions B1 in the 2.0 Hosel (Red) and 3.0 Hosel (Blue).
